There are a few things here I would make, and it was nice to see my idea of bechamel validated. The descriptions of the food are incredible–both because of the elaborate nature of many of the dishes, the copious inclusion of cream and butter, and because of Toklas’s delicious and funny asides even within some of the recipes.
